But don’t sweat it – we’ll help with that. No idea is too crazy.
WE HELP YOU THINK
Don’t underestimate the power of facilitated thinking. Take a mere sliver of an idea, and ask it questions. Put on different glasses and look at it again. Stand in another person’s shoes and see how it looks from there. You’ll be surprised at the clarity that this can produce.
Originating at wapisasa, the Thinkathon helps our clients think openly and collectively. Together, we work towards finding solutions. We help you think sideways about what you are trying to do – or even why you need to do it. The outcomes of a Thinkathon relate to the breadth of experience in the room – and the ability to think openly.
THE PROCESS
- Get in touch
- Have a chat
- Schedule a day
- Think, write, draw with us
- Receive next steps
- Go about your day OR ask for us to help you implement
We’ll arrange a 30 minute call to discuss how a Thinkathon can jump start your project, program or product. Once you’ve decided that a Thinkathon is for you, we’ll get to work putting together a personalized agenda. Meanwhile, you invite the thinkers from your organization who should be in the room. You decided which room we should be in* and when we’ll think together.
Thinkathons usually last from 10am until about 4pm, with a break for lunch. To keep energy levels up, we recommend providing nibbly snacks. M&Ms, grapes, peanuts — treats easily eaten while thinking and talking are ideal. The group will define problems and areas of focus. We will ask hard questions, capturing the outputs both visually and in text form.
What often happens is that we start off in one place, then move to another. We head off at tangents and down rabbit holes, and then back to where we started from. But just like the hero in Joseph Campbell’s monomyth, we return back to a familiar situation with new eyes! The journey, with its twists and turns, has changed the way you see the problem. If not solved, you’ve certainly got new tools to approach it. The facilitators will package up what was captured during the day into actionable next steps.
