Please read to help understand how the system can work.

This conversation is taking place within a Group.

Groups are the building blocks of the system.

      Groups can be;
      Public
Any site member can join the group.
The group will be listed in the groups directory and in search results.
Group content and activity will be visible to any site member.

      Private
Only users who request membership and are accepted can join the group.
The group will be listed in the groups directory and in search results.
Group content and activity will only be visible to members of the group.

      Hidden
Only users who are invited can join the group.
The group will not be listed in the groups directory or search results.
Group content and activity will only be visible to members of the group.

You could create a Group for your organisation that is accessible to the public as well as a Group that is accessible to staff only.

You could create groups for Projects and Collaborations as well as Larger Conversations around particular topics.

Groups contain Forum functionality (which is how we are having this conversation).

You can contact members, remove members, and report members. It is possible to email members on mass (this is not activated in this demo).

Members can change their notification settings as they wish. They can choose their own email subscription settings (this is not activated in this demo).

It is possible to share documents and files in many ways. To make things easy I have just enabled a documents folder within each group.

It is possible to use Groups in many different ways, for example you could create very open/transparent organisations by storing meeting minutes, recorded sessions, reports, files, notes etc. This may be less useful for professional organisations but it would dramatically change the accessibility, openness and inclusivity of most smaller civic organisations and open up new possibilities for engagement and participation.
