Participating groups displayed a dynamic interaction of five key features: mutuality, a shared positive identity, opportunities to take on group roles, negotiated ground rules, and skilled facilitation. The success of a group rested on its capacity to bring these features to bear on its own growth and development as it engaged with key areas of possible tension.
